Who is responsible for your data

thestairs.co.uk is a free guide owned and operated by Sproutiva Ltd. The guide is written by The Stair Guys under licence. When you send an enquiry through the form on this site, the people who receive it and decide how it is used are The Stair Guys, so for that enquiry data The Stair Guys are the data controller. If you would rather not use the form, you do not have to give us any personal information to read this site.

What we collect, and why

When you send an enquiry. The form asks for your name, a way to contact you, and details about your staircase or project. We use those details for one thing: to respond to you, and to measure, specify and source your staircase if you want us to. The form is provided by Quotient, a third-party form and quoting tool that processes your submission on our behalf as our data processor.

When you just read the site. We use a privacy-first, first-party analytics beacon to count page views. It records only the page path, the page you arrived from, and a timestamp rounded to the minute. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint you, and collects no personal data. There is no advertising, no tracking across sites, and no third-party analytics.

Cookies

The site itself sets no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, which is why you will not see a cookie banner: there is nothing non-essential to consent to. The only third-party element is the Quotient enquiry form, and only on the contact page. If you use that form, Quotient may set cookies that are strictly necessary for the form to work.

Our lawful basis

When you send an enquiry, we handle your details to take steps you have asked for before any agreement, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about a staircase. We do not use your enquiry for marketing.

Who we share it with

To measure and source your staircase we may pass your details to vetted industry partners, such as a manufacturer, surveyor or installer, and only ever to deliver the specific job you have asked about. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. Quotient handles form submissions for us as a processor under a agreement.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any staircase work that follows from it, plus any period we are required to keep records for. After that we delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. To do any of these, or if you have a question about your data, contact office@thestairguys.co.uk. If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
